A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey… but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong. So every day I get STRONGER!

The journey continues.

Well seems like it’s been forever but I am back on track. So started working out in the gym and I’m really enjoying the weight of the metal. Been having to do some serious revamp on the runs but it’s all good. Whenever I start lifting heavy I have to allow myself more recovery time anyway so it’s all about balance. If there is one thing that gets my goat it is people getting caught up in the cardio game. Because it really is a game. If you’re looking to burn some extra calories N.E.A.T. beats straight running any day if you’re lifting too of course, but that’s just how I see it. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I’m no expert. Just someone who reads a lot and pays attention to what I see and hear and then apply or not apply as necessary. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my share of doing stuff just because it was the thing to do, but some things just don’t work for everybody and some things are just unnecessary. But hey that’s just my opinion. That being said I don’t eat egg whites (tried them once in some pancakes and decided they weren’t for me) besides that seeing that I only eat fish and chicken on occassion I need good fats wherever I can get them. I also don’t eat six meals a day, not a snacker by nature, I prefer larger meals, and besides that I’d rather keep moving than stopping to eat all day. But again that’s just me and it works for me.

So I just finished up week three w/bodyweight workout on Sun, long run on Mon. lift on Tue/Thur, run Wed/Thur and rest Fri/Sat. Next week I’ll be taking the run from Wed and tacking it on to the end of the Tue workout and that way I’ll be able to hit the weights hard and take a day to recover. I have been doing a Kundalini yoga set Tue/Wed/Fri because I eventually want to work my way back to a 40 day set. Thurs I push super hard too because I have a two day break, but the reality is muscle DOES NOT GROW while you’re working it. The growth comes during the resting. Legs being large muscles require more recovery time. This varies from person to person, but it can also vary from week to week. That’s why I try and eat well and I supplement with herbal tea blends I put together….YUMMY! Right now I have an iron tonic brewing in the closest. That will be added to some calcium/iron rich molasses and just a TBL or two a day to help keep me on my toes.

So exercises I’ve been doing this round W/next rotation in italics

Workout A

Overhead squat———–I’m thinking a clean/press or db snatch

Dips
Step-ups——–squat

Incline DB Bench Press——–upright row
Hamstring curls(intense variation-let’s see how it works)—-I think we’ll keep these 4 now

Pull-ups
Calf raises/pushes

Workout B

Romanian DL——traditional DL

Lat pull-down—–Keep
Ships mast(like Bulgarian split squat but you move out like a ships mast vs up/down)—-straight Bulgarian

Pull-up
Leg curl—-????

Home workout has been

Push-up (elbows in)
Jump squat

YTWL
Open/close

Push-up (wide)
Thigh squeeze

Pull-up
Calf raises

Hip thrust-ALL ABOUT THE GLUTES
Bridge- ALL ABOUT THE GLUTES

Abs are down to one day a week….

So now I feel like we’re caught up. I left so much on the gym floor today, let’s see how the morning finds us. Peace!
