A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey… but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong. So every day I get STRONGER!

How many days til Spring?

The 40 day count down has begun and I must say I love moments of reflection. You see this time is not about giving things up. This is a time to look into your life and take stock of what you are doing through this season. This is something that can and should be done at other parts of the year. There will be times when you will need to readjust how you’re moving and the direction you are going so it helps to stop every once in a while, step back and see a fuller picture of where you are. This process is not always easy, but it is necessary if we are to get where we need to go. So you don’t have to give up anything, but if there is something that is a vice for you maybe it’s time to start weaning. Likewise, if there is something you know you should be doing, what better time to start.

Already I have opened up to a possibility I never saw before, something I thought I new looks totally today than it did yesterday. It’s amazing how quickly things can change. Opening up won’t necessarily mean that you have to abandon something but it puts your mind in a place where it can welcome something even greater. It’s deep!

Minus certain moments in childhood I can honestly say I m the happiest I have ever been. Not because of a person or thing(s), but because I’m here and I have learned how to move with the ebbs and flows of life in such a way that I can accept them, learn through them and move on. No need to get caught up in how cold the water is.

So I’ve begun my reflection and I’ve given up a few things and taken up a few others in order to realign my sails in the direction I need to go. What about you, do you know where you’re headed? Is it time to readjust? Think about it.

Only three days left.

Have you given some thought to how you want to improve your life over the next 40dys? Remember there will never be a perfect time to make changes sometimes you have to just start. When you take 1 sincere step in a positive direction you’ll be given momentum to go 10 more steps. So make the first step and then keep on stepping. They don’t have to gigantic steps, baby steps are just as important. So get on board and join the challenge, 3days left to decide exactly what is you want to work on. I have two books up for grabs at the end of the 40day challenge:

The Complete book of Running for Women by Claire Kowalchik
Wake up Your Dreams by Walt Kallestad

There comes a time

There comes a time when something you thought you knew turns out to be not what you thought it was. But that’s how it goes, life goes up, life goes down but since you are still in the land of the living you might as well keep living don’t you think? Don’t worry, that does not mean you have to smile ALL THE TIME! Nobody does that, not even God. Just don’t drown in your sorrow because if you do that is all you will see. Sorrow, anger, bitterness, hate, shame, the list goes on. Don’t let those things rule your world. Remember, the world does not stop becuse we feel pain. You continue to live because the human spirit is made to endure it.

We as people are often so caught up in our own little worlds that we forget that others exist too. We do not live in vacuums. The attitudes we take, the actions we perform in an instant can impact the life of another more than we will ever know. Think about it, how do you want to be remembered? Will your eulogy be the fake “He was such a good person” or will many stand up to send you off with true praise?

There comes a time when we must realize that this life as we know it can be gone in an instant. And by the time I turned 24 I knew all too well this to be true. Some of the greatest people I have ever known here one minute, gone the next.

I’m not writing this to depress you, I’m writing this to encourage you. Life is not, nor has it ever been about you, THERE IS SO MUCH MORE GOING ON. So I want you to be encouraged to stop putting off taking the kids ice skating, stop putting off going to school, stop blaming any and everybody for all that ails you, stop living in the past, stop making excuses, stop giving up, STOP JUST EXISTING AND REALLY START TO LIVE. YOU CAN LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE, but you have to see it, you have to want it, you have to CLAIM IT and know that it is YOURS! I encourage you to look at things in a different way and see things you never did before. Once you become encouraged you become EMPOWERED & once you become EMPOWERED, YOU CAN EMPOWER OTHERS.

There comes a time when your purpose has been served, your mission complete. You will probably not know before hand so instead of thinking that day will never come behave as if it will come quickly. This instant, this moment is all you have, use it as best you can!

SPREAD THE POWER! SPREAD THE LIGHT! There comes a time when you realize you can…starting NOW!

Where are you now?

It’s February and time to check in on where you are with your word/phase for the year. Are you still on task? If you have found yourself falling off now is the time to GET BACK IN GEAR! Yes, you heard right, get back in gear! Stop moping thinking you’re never gonna change, this is too hard, I don’t know what I want etc. etc. Remember, life is too short to just watch it pass by. You have got to jump in and OWN IT.

Here’s the deal, Lent is coming up in one week. No I’m not Catholic and you don’t have to be either. But this is around the time when most people have forgotten their New Years resolutions and have gone back to the same ole same ole. I don’t want that to happen to you so work with me. All I’m asking for is 40 days in your life that you will dedicate to move yourself closer to having your Best Year EVER! Whether you choose this time to give up something(which is the custom) or use the time to adopt new habits is up to you. I just want you to do something that will make a positive impact in your life and the lives of others. 40 days is not long. If you’re a parent you waited 9mths for a child to be born so I know 40 days is nothing to ya.

I’m giving up a two things and adopting one new habit that’s in line with my goals that I’ve been pushing aside. The first thing I’m giving up is my Long Island aka alcohol. Might even push this one to the end of the semester but we’ll see. The next is…well that’s TOO personal, but I’ve done it before, so no biggie there. My new habit is writing every day, either working on my book, my poems or short stories or any form of writing that is personal and is not school related. I really can’t believe how my writing always ends up last. Oh well, we are about to change that.

So I want you to take the next few days and think about this. REALLY THINK ABOUT IT! If there is something in your life that you want to change say yes to the challenge and LET’S GET IT!

There might even be a drawing for a gift at the end….don’t get too excited it will probably be a book (but you like to read don’t cha??)

Baby I’m back and I shall…

I shall be me no matter the cost, it is my destiny, my souls journey to home.
I shall remain open, understanding that all is not always as it seems.
I shall give love and receive love any time it is needed.
I shall serve unconditionally out of kindness not obligation.
I shall run, jump, sing, & laugh because I am happy, and joy is catching.
I shall pray w/o ceasing, cry w/o shame, live w/o limits, move on w/o regrets…..

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DWELL ON THINGS TOO LONG.
It’s a new day, NEW BEGINNINGS!
