So I wasn’t able to narrow my theme down to one word but I think I’ve settled on an overall direction. DETERMINED FOCUS. Lots of time I tend to get sidetracked and lose sight of exactly what it is I’m supposed to be doing in a given time. This year I want to make sure that everything I’m working toward stays in FOCUS. I added determined because not everything is going to be easy to focus on. I have to be determined to see my way through any obstacles, any loops, snags etc. I have to be determined to know when a Godly interruption presents itself and take heed of what it’s showing me. Did you know in Chinese the word for crisis and opportunity are the same….HUMMMMMM
So just to throw some of my things to achieve out there in the universe. This year I AM DETERMINED TO FOCUS ON:
1) Getting my drivers license(don’t laugh for those of you who didn’t know)
2) Get my book proposal out there(Yes I’m writing a book & if you’re not careful you’ll be in it!)
3) Finish my book!
4) Build my fitness business
5) Find a cozy house/apartment and make it home
6) Complete my first uninterrupted year of college
7) Help as many people as I can reach their health/fitness goals
8) Help as many people as I can define their purpose and follow their passion
9) Spend some time volunteering at CID & St. Joseph learning as much as I can along the way.
10) Continue to be the BEST MOMMY EVER!!!
11) Earn a steady income through my writing and crafts….And so much more!
Last year was good, this year will be great. LET’S GET IT!
Push-ups 3sets/12, 4th set done holding weights 10reps
Spread eagle push-ups- 4sets/10
Upside down push-ups- 4sets/8
Plie squat- 3sets/12, 4th set single leg squat/12reps
Open close- (callanetic exercise) 4sets/10 (I love these by the way!)
Thigh squeeze- (callanetic exercise) 4sets/75 (These too!)
Finished w/hip thrusts- 3sets/10
Run intervals- 15min/5min rest/ 15steady state outdoors in the BEAUTIFUL WINTER AIR!
Felt really strong going in to this workout and felt totally amazing afterwards. There was a dog who was determined to ruin my run but I showed her. Can’t be stopped, won’t be stopped!
Though I do use some weights with some of the exercises I focus on using my body to really bring the effects home. The key w/bodyweight exercises is to slow down the movements and not rely on momentum to do the work for you. Use as much of your body as possible to perform the movements and make every rep count. Quality over quantity everytime. Still not too late, get yours in for the day.
Got this great idea from Tina over at Best Body Fitness. The idea is to use one word to set the tone of the year. I will still jot down some things I want to get accomplished but the word is going to give it that little extra kick like you get when you eat Popeyes in New Orleans instead of the Midwest. I really like the idea and how she described how she applied it throughout the year, COOL! So I’m thinking of a word. One that will give this year direction and make it do what it do! You do the same and share your word with me. This can be the Best Year of Your Life. Let’s make it happen, ONE WORD CAN SAY IT ALL.
For now though it’s time to shut it down. There’s a workout brewing for the A.M. and I must get my rest. So let it simmer til morning and check back in. God Bless and goodnight.
Children Learn What They Live
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

I remember this poem from way back when and it got me to thinking. Children learn what they live by default. Like this the way it has always been. But at some point shouldn’t we grow out of thinking that all there is it what’s right in front of us. I mean I have lived with a lot of things but what I’ve learned is that there is so much more to life. As adults we have to grow to live what we learn instead of passing things off because we’re comfortable where we are. We serve such a higher purpose that it makes no sense to let the lessons in life mean nothing.
One thing that I have learned is that things don’t always turn out the way you planned so I live my life in such a way that I can accept things the way they are. The more I learn, the more I am able to live life more fully…TELL ME, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED???
Well we have hit a new year and it’s time to pick up speed if I want this year to be even better than last. Lots of new things on the horizon. For some of you the words I write might be too much but no matter what I say I risk offending someone. Rest assured my intent is not to harm or hurt but I gotta be me. Remember we all have something to give and something to gain so take what you can and leave what you may….welcome once again!
